Wash With Tap Water : Is It Dangerous To The Skin?

Know The Benefits And Dangers Of Washing Your Face With Tap Water

What is better for washing: running water or special means? And what are the basic rules when washing to follow poses such a question, dermatologist of the highest category, candidate of medical sciences, cosmetologist, laser therapist, mesotherapist of the Into-Sana medical center.

You can wash with running water! In this case, you need to follow a few simple rules.

You need to wash your face 2 times a day. In the morning and evening. This will ensure adequate skin cleansing and maintain its protective function.

Never use hot water for washing. This is especially true for people suffering from diseases such as seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea (persistent vasodilation of the facial skin), rosacea (rosacea). Water should be at room temperature.

At the beginning of the wash, it is desirable to make the water warmer – to open the pores and ensure adequate cleansing of the facial skin. And at the end of the wash, the water needs to be made colder – to “close” these pores.

Washing products can be used according to skin type.

However, there are groups of people who do not want to use tap water.

This includes:

Those who, after washing with running water, notice the appearance of an allergic rash. This is most often due to the composition of the water, in particular the presence of chlorine. In such cases, it is recommended to use boiled water or mineral water without gas.

Those who, after washing with running water, note a sharp dryness and tightness of the facial skin. In this case, it is better to refuse tap water and use boiled water, or add a special cleanser that will soften the facial skin during washing.

It’s also important to understand that tonics cannot replace running water! For washing, only special products are used, and a tonic is applied after – to tighten the facial skin (increases turgor, skin elasticity).

What tools can be used when washing?

To date, the range of such funds is wide. The main thing – when buying, choose products based on your skin type (dry, sensitive, combination and oily)!

Washing products are presented, as a rule, in four forms:

Foaming agent.

Soap cleanser.

A micellar solution that does not contain alkali and alcohol.

Means in the form of cleansing cream or milk.

You should choose the form of cleanser (i.e. soap, foam, milk or micellar water) that you like. You can also change the form of this fund. In winter, use a foaming agent, and in summer – a micellar solution (it is easier because it does not require additional rinsing with water, and you can take it with you on long trips).

What products to choose for each skin type?

If you have dry skin, then in pharmacies we select a line for the dry type. From there we chose the means for washing. They will be available as cleansing gels or creams, cleansing foams and cleansing soaps. All these products should be applied to wet skin and washed off with water. Its function is to gently cleanse dry and atopic skin, while maintaining a hydrolipidic balance. They have a calming and moisturizing effect. Do not leave a dry feeling and prevent a tightness effect.

If you have sensitive skin, cleansers usually come in two forms: micellar solution and cleansing milk. Such products are used to clean fragile, thin, sensitive skin prone to redness. Does not contain alcohol and fragrance. Micellar water does not require additional rinsing, which is more convenient to use in summer. And cleansing milk gently cleanses the skin, providing a soothing effect, making the skin more resistant to irritating factors. The second form is suitable for winter.

Programs for combination and oily skin also include micellar lotions, foaming gels, and soaps. These products cleanse the skin without making it too dry. They have a sebum-regulating and bacteriostatic effect, which is important for this skin type. Does not contain alkali and alcohol. Prevents clogging of pores and the formation of blackheads.
